Several of Reddit’s subreddits – most notably /r/TransDIY – give these men the ability to share links to “Do-It-Yourself” websites that offer a variety of hormones at high strength and large quantities for cheap. These men seek out various states of “feminization” – with many of the accounts reading like a Frankenstein’s experiment on their male bodies – all of them having a sincerely held belief in their gendered souls. Reddit’s 2020 policy on hate speech, preventing criticisms based on identity, has allowed a propagation of underground estrogen distribution for transgender DIY-ers.
